Most language students who are
studying English want to learn English speaking as quickly as
possible. In order to do this there are a number of different
elements you should be aware of:
understanding how to choose an appropriate
vocabulary
the correct grammar
intonation, rhythms, sounds, stress patterns, and other
useful expressions which will help you to sound more fluent
All of these areas have to be worked on before you will see an
improvement.
Of course, holding a conversation with someone is a two way process. You not only have to speak to the other person but you have to listen to what they have to say too. When you are speaking to someone, you should check that they are following the conversation by checking on a regular basis by simply asking them if they know what you mean, or if they agree with you.
Choosing your
Vocabulary
When you learn English speaking, the most important element is that you have a good range of vocabulary and
the more words
you know, the better your conversation will be. When you are speaking with someone, it is not essential to use the most perfect words for what you are trying to say, because you can always say (Ah or Um) whilst you are thinking about it, which will keep the listeners attention. This is better than having a long silence while you are working out the right words to use. It is best to spend some of your time trying to learn English speaking accurately but the rest of the time should be fun, so go ahead and simply enjoy communicating with others.
Grammar
Just like vocabulary,
the more grammar
you learn the better. The English grammar rules are easy to learn and will help you to be able to express yourself more clearly. To be able to learn English speaking fluently you need to be aware of where to use adjectives, nouns and pronouns as well as other more structural parts of grammar. Having this knowledge will assist you to communicate with others in both asking and answering questions and generally holding a
conversation.
Pronunciation
If your grammar, vocabulary and style are all worked on, bad
pronunciation is the only thing that will let you down as others will not be able to understand what you are saying to them. Although the way you pronounce a word does not have to be the same as someone speaking their native language, it does, however, need to make
the English sounds
correctly.

which shows you how to make the sounds required by the movements of the mouth. The sounds which are not heard in your own language will be the most difficult ones for you to learn so you will have to practise these regularly.Some English learners prefer to check the pronunciation of words in a
dictionary
Of course, there are two features of English pronunciation which are
Word Stress
and
Intonation
. You should learn them both to improve your pronunciation.
Advice
You can learn some
English lessons
that are categorized to make navigation easy. If you are holding a general conversation with a group of people and you need to keep their attention in the language you are using, then add a selection of words and learn
a few useful phrases
to use during the conversation.
If, however, you know in advance that you are going to be speaking about a particular subject, then it is wise to make some advance preparations of phrases and expressions you may need to use. Organize your speech by listening to how others do it. Expressions such as, (and another thing), or, (on top of that), let's the listener know that there is more information to come.
You can also listen to fluent
English speakers and how they introduce new information or ideas
simply by saying things like, (an interesting question is), or, (now I am going to tell you about …).
Armed with a wide vocabulary, a
knowledge or grammar and good pronunciation you will soon be able to learn English speaking both quickly and perfectly.
